Anna Walker, LCSW (she/her)

Owner, Therapist
About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois, and received my BA in Psychology and my Master of Social Work (MSW) with a focus in health and mental health from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I’ve done a lot of work with crisis, trauma-informed care, stress and burnout, youth and families, parenting, domestic violence, sexual assault, children on the autism spectrum, clinical counseling, supervision, among all kinds of mental health needs – ultimately a little bit of everything!
With Walk Together Wellness, I now work primarily with adults and am able to provide a therapeutic space tailored to each unique client. I created Walk Together Wellness to make a space where therapist and client, mentor and mentee, peer and peer, can authentically show up and walk together in a journey of growth.
I’m originally from Decatur, IL, but have become a Carbondale local since 2017. Outside of work, I love to spend time full of love and laughs with my friends, family, and our cats. I also love watching movies, playing games, reading, hitting the gym, enjoying music, and going on random adventures.
My Approach to Therapy
I have a passion for connecting with others for support and healing, and ultimately to help people build resilience and empower them to live their lives to the fullest. I am an advocate at heart and have a passion for meeting someone where they are at, facing whatever issue is at hand, and working together to foster healing and growth. I have lived experience navigating trauma and mental health myself, and both personally and professionally know the life-changing impact of therapy. We may encounter great hardship in life, but we are also capable of incredible strength, joy, community, and purpose. I offer a warm, relatable, and nonjudgmental space for connection, learning, and healing, and a central sense of humor to keep things interesting.
What to Expect from a First Session
When beginning our work together, clients can expect a safe space to build a therapeutic relationship and express their authentic selves. I incorporate evidence-based clinical training and experience into real conversations and relationships that we create together in a way that works for you. Together we can learn more about each other as client and therapist, explore whatever issues are at hand, and develop goals for working together to support growth, healing, and progress.
